Arcade Fire has just released their much anticipated sophomore album titled Neon Bible. I am not the biggest fan of Indie music, but I did enjoy Funeral. Funeral blew everyone out of the water, it was their first album with all these strange sounds and lyrics. Now they have all the hype with their second album. Listening over it a few times, because no one can enjoy a song the first time they hear it, the music starts playing thoughts in my head. When figures in my head start dancing to music, that’s when I know it’s good. Although I must say, not all these songs are new. I had Intervention on my I-pod for a 18 months now, and No Cars Go is from Funeral. The magic behind Arcade Fire is their use of different instruments, meaningful lyrics, and two different singers. The songs I suggest you listen to are Intervention, Antichrist Television Blues, The Well and The Lighthouse, and Black Waves/ Bad Vibrations. Maybe if they lowered some of the instruments, worked on tweaking the sound, took out No Cars Go, and added a three more songs; it would be perfect. If you like church music with an echo in the background you’re going to love My Body is Cage. Rumor has it that they had 100 songs under different no-name bands on myspace sites, and the ones that got the most positive reviews were used on Neon Bible. I give the album 4 out of 5; Funeral was a 5 out of 5. Check out their whacky website here.
Linkin Park will be releasing their 3rd album May 15th 2007, called Minutes from Midnight. It was reported on their myspace site only a few minutes before midnight before it was taking down. A single titled, “What I’ve Done,” will be released on April 2nd.
Nine Inch Nails will also be coming out with a new album called Year Zero, set for a release date of April 17th, 2007. Their single, “Survivalism,” has already been heard on the nation's airwaves. If this song is any indication of what the album may hold, it could be very promising.
